Fingerprint Gallery was thrilled to present Dollhouse Delusions a solo exhibition by @tillie.midnight, that opened on Oct 17th 2025!
By deploying wildly creative uses of mixed media, Dollhouse Delusions explored the blurred lines between consciousness and subconsciousness through the adventures of an animated girl that had a harbinger of intrusive thoughts growing out of her head in the form of a flower.
In this all-encompassing show, Tillie invited us into her world to see for ourselves.
Dollhouse Delusions was open Oct 18-26, 2025 at Fingerprint Gallery with an opening party on Friday October 17th from 6pm-9pm.
Artist Statement
As a narcoleptic, I inherently need to plan a lot of my life around when and how much sleep I can get. My body and mind fight all the time, sorting between wants and needs; constantly calculating my capacity to be in the world and gauging how much energy I have left, before feeling myself fading away again.
I’m confronting the idea that the limits of our vessels may hold our bodies down, but a mind, if you let it, can race far beyond itself. I’ve found that art has become the healthiest way to evade my own thoughts and reality, allowing my mind to run free.
Typically, when I’m working, I focus much more intensely on making rather than the meaning, but in this almost mindless artistic outpouring, over time, I started to notice patterns and themes begin to emerge.
My artistic practice is dreamlike, nonsensical, and deeply rooted in personal symbolism. This exhibition is an unhinged world-building experiment to visualize and make physical the internal chaos of living with depression, anxiety, and other non-visable disabilities. Through repetition of characters, surreal visual language, and a wildly mixed media approach, I’ve created an immersive world that I invite everyone to come experience.
At the core of my current body of work is a non-linear mixed media animation about a girl who has a flower growing out of her head. This inseparable companion becomes a harbinger of intrusive thoughts and follows her surreal experiences while learning to cope with the reality she’s been dealt.
